Domaine de Chantilly – Fondation d’Aumale

Bequeathed to the Institut de France by the Duke of Aumale in 1886, the Château de Chantilly is made up of the château, the grounds, the great stables and a 7,800 hectare estate, including 6,300 hectares of forest and 250 leases (individual properties, hotels, golf courses…).

The Domaine de Chantilly – Fondation d’Aumale is an unincorporated foundation hosted by the Institut de France. Its mission consists of managing and developing the Château de Chantilly.

The Institut de France

Created in 1793, the mission of the Institut de France is to provide France’s five Academies with a harmonious framework for its work on perfecting literature, sciences and arts on a non-profit basis.

Grand mécène, il encourage la recherche et soutient la création à travers la remise de prix, de bourses et de subventions.

Placé sous la protection du président de la République, il est également le gardien d’un important patrimoine composé de demeures et collections qui lui ont été léguées depuis la fin du XIXe siècle.
