Studio Tour – From Observation to Sketch (Exploring Caroline Murat’s Collections)

After exploring the exhibition “From Naples to Chantilly: The Collections of Queen Caroline Murat”, participants examine the landscape paintings and the interplay of light in them. Then, sketchbook in hand, in the English garden, everyone learns the art of sketching the landscape and tries their hand at drawing from life. A workshop designed to teach participants how to observe, feel, and create outdoors.

From the Exhibition to the Great Outdoors

The workshop follows a simple approach : observe first, then draw. The tour begins with the exhibition dedicated to Queen Caroline Murat’s collections, where participants take the time to observe how painters construct a landscape and capture light. Then, sketchbook in hand, it’s time to put theory into practice in the neighboring garden : the English garden, with its natural and ever-changing perspectives, becomes an ideal learning environment for practicing sketching from life.

Open to everyone, the workshop emphasizes the joy of creating rather than performance: participants learn to observe, feel, and translate what they see, at their own pace, outdoors.
