The Musée Condé invites you to discover or rediscover its exceptional masterpieces through a guided tour of its painting collections.
Located in the majestic Château de Chantilly, the Musée Condé is home to a priceless collection of art, passionately assembled by Henri d’Orléans, Duc d’Aumale (1822-1897), a great patron of the arts, an enlightened art lover and the last owner of the estate. During this guided tour, marvel at the richness and diversity of this unique collection, considered to be the second biggest collection of early paintings behind the Louvre.
Among the must-sees is Piero di Cosimo’s famous Portrait of Simonetta Vespucci, a true icon of the Italian Renaissance, and the timeless grace of Raphael’s Three Graces. Lovers of classical art will also appreciate the works of Nicolas Poussin, master of landscape and composition, and the delicate paintings of Watteau, which offer a poetic journey through the art of 18th-century France.
This guided tour takes you on a journey through the centuries, tracing the great European schools of painting from the Renaissance to the modern era, and highlighting the Duc d’Aumale’s refined taste and artistic choices. It is also an opportunity to discover the history of this museum, whose presentation has remained unchanged since it was donated to the Institut de France, in accordance with the wishes expressed in by the Duc d’Aumale in his will.
