Exhibition - Titien, Ecce Homo

A previously unseen painting by Titian featuring an Ecce Homo (the depiction of Christ crowned with thorns after the Flagellation) from a private Cypriot collection has enabled the APAC Labs of the Cyprus Institute to carry out state-of-the-art scientific investigations.

The resulting discoveries shed light on Titian’s creative process, and resonate with those conducted with the support of the C2RMF on Titian’s version of the Ecce Homo and his workshop at the Musée Condé. Visitors will be offered a stimulating comparison of these two paintings, combining stylistic, iconographic and scientific analysis. This exhibition will illustrate how science can serve art.

This exhibition, located in the castle’s Psyche Gallery.

In partnership with the Cyprus Institute and the APAC and STARC laboratories.

The interdisciplinary research carried out on the painting Ecce Homo from the Pittas Collection builds on the work of several experts and specialists from the APAC / STARC laboratories: Avgoustinos Avgousti, Nikolas Bakirtzis, Svetlana Gasanova, Ropertos Georgiou, Sorin Hermon, Athanasios Koutoupas, Nicolette Levy, Michel Menu, Raphael Moreau, Andriana Nikolaidou, Rahaf Orabi.
