On the night of 11 to 12 October 1926, a terrible theft was committed at the Musée Condé: a historic diamond of exceptional size, colour and provenance was stolen – the Pink Diamond had disappeared!
This stone, which weighs over 9 carats and is also known as the Grand Condé, has been in the collections of the Princes of Condé since at least the 18th century. It was found shortly afterwards, having been hidden in an apple by the thieves who were unable to sell it!
A century after this sensational event, the diamond, which has never been seen since, is finally being shown to the public.
Extensive gemmological and historical analyses have finally revealed all its secrets.
