Pink October : A Cause, A Commitment

Every year, the month of October turns pink to support a vital cause : the fight against breast cancer.

Launched in the United States in 1985, this international awareness campaign made its debut in France in 1994, spearheaded by the Estée Lauder Group and Marie Claire magazine, in partnership with the organization “Le Cancer du sein, parlons-en!” (Let’s Talk About Breast Cancer!).

Symbolized by the famous pink ribbon, the Pink October campaign has three goals: to highlight the importance of early detection, to raise funds for research, and to provide support to those affected by the disease. Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in France and the leading cause of cancer-related deaths among them; when detected early, it offers a better chance of recovery and requires less invasive treatments.

A Charity Concert at the Grandes Écuries

In this spirit of solidarity, the Grandes Écuries de Chantilly will host the “Mélodies en rose” concert, held to benefit the charity Les Rubans de la Vie. At the charity’s request, the Le Ménestrel ensemble from the Chantilly Conservatory is lending its musical talents to this cause, bringing together its concert band, choirs, soloists, and theater class for the occasion.

A Three-Part Program

The evening will open with a roughly 30-minute performance by the Ménestrel Wind Orchestra, featuring a diverse selection of pieces including The Mandalorian (Star Wars), The Aristocats, a Michael Jackson Hit Mix, Moment for Morricone (with the Ménestrel Choir), and Benny Goodman’s Sing Sing Sing.

The Ménestrel Choir will then take the stage to perform several classic French songs: La Tendresse (Hubert Giraud), L’Oiseau et l’Enfant (Jean-Paul Cara), Emmenez-moi (Charles Aznavour), and Le Tourbillon de la vie (Serge Rezvani).

The evening will continue with a vocal and piano performance by the young soprano soloist Héloïse Frachey: Gounod’s Ave Maria, Les Oiseaux dans la charmille (from Offenbach’s The Tales of Hoffmann), and the Valse de Juliette (from Gounod’s Romeo and Juliet).

The program will be punctuated by a performance from the Ménestrel theater class and perhaps a few surprises. A program booklet will be distributed to the audience.

For one evening, music becomes a vehicle for hope and solidarity. A beautiful moment of togetherness to be experienced at the Grandes Écuries, for a cause that concerns us all.
